District Residency
The Art of Filmmaking Meets SEL Empowerment
Designed as a high-engagement after-school enrichment course, our 8-week intensive empowers students to find their voice and their confidence through the power of movie-making.

-
Social-Emotional Growth: Our cooperative program requires students to practice empathy, active listening, and conflict resolution during the high-stakes production phase.
-
Confidence Through Creation: By moving a project from a blank page to a public screening, students learn that they can tackle complex, long-term goals.
-
Career & Technical Foundations: Students gain early exposure to digital media careers, developing a portfolio-ready short film and a foundational understanding of the digital arts.

Week 1: Students build a sense of unity and vote on a project to produce
Week 2: Students receive instruction on the art of screenwriting and learn to read critically as they "polish" their draft
Weeks 3-6: Students enter the production phase: gathering material like costumes and props, auditioning for roles, and shooting scenes.
Week 7: Students learn the ins and outs of post-production by working together to edit all of their footage into a cohesive narrative.
Week 8: Student premier their film for their community!
